AIGA Cincinnati, in partnership with Art Academy of Cincinnati, is proud to present the "Ink Bleeds II: The Art of the Screenprint" gallery show from November 19/20th through December 18, 2009.
Thursday, November 19 – Jay Ryan
Jay Ryan from The Bird Machine print studio will be the featured guest speaker on November 19th at 7:00pm in the AAC Lecture Hall. The Bird Machine is a screen print poster workshop, owned and run by Jay, and is located very close to Chicago. Jay learned to screenprint beginning in 1995, printing posters for his own band (Dianogah), his friends' bands, and the clubs they played at. Slowly, work from other clubs and other bands came in.
Friday, November 20 – Gallery Opening & Reception
Start the evening off at the Art Academy and enjoy the opening reception of the gallery show Ink Bleeds II: Posters on Modern Rock. Local and national screenprinters will have posters available at the Flatstock sale.
After the opening, head around the corner to Below Zero Lounge for great music from The Kentucky Struts and Idaho, Alaska. The Kentucky Struts will start things off with mid-tempo rockers that combine Tom Petty and Bob Dylan with their own take on American Rock. Rounding out the evening, Idaho, Alaska will bring their indie rock set and their unique sound that has drawn comparisons to Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, and Pavement.
Rock posters and rock and roll – the perfect Pre-Thanksgiving treat.
