Firestarter is one of Greater Cincinnati’s hottest arts events. Firestarter is an annual event where artists of all description come together and trade their art for someone’s else’s. So, for example, you can bring a clay pot and trade it for a screen-printed concert poster. Maybe a landscape photograph for a watercolor. It’s all up to you. You might recall this event through its former name, Print Trader, which was started by photographer Brian Steege in 2010. But this year we’re adding an exciting element. We’re also going to invite attending artists to actually burn their bad art. Torch the pieces they hate. Find liberation through destruction, and foster spiritual and creative rebirth. Yes, all that can happen when you burn the work you hate. (Obviously, it’s hell being an artist.) So that’s the concept behind Firestarter. Burn your bad art, trade a piece of yours for something else, and share drink and stories with fellow artists. There’s no better way to spend an autumn evening. October 20, 2017, 6pm – ? at Wooden Cask in Newport, KY. Trade your good art, burn your bad art. See you there!
