Facing the Blank Canvas: How to Start Designing

Get your school year started off right with AIGA Cincinnati Student Engagement. We decided to get started early in school year to bring you even more events and insight from professionals in the design community.

Join us for our first student event, September Design Forum: “Facing the Blank Canvas: How to Start Designing” featuring Dennis Cheatham.

Learn how to get inspired and gain the proper resources as a student to prepare you for the upcoming year. Design problems don’t come with instruction manuals, so where do you start when all you have is a brief and your wits? In this session we’ll explore how to break problems apart to reveal the innovative solutions that hide within. We’ll practice a process built on research insights that can lead to design that’s endearing to audiences. We’ll also review ways to look at problems with fresh eyes when you get stuck in a creative rut. This event is specifically for students in graphic design or related fields.

About our speaker: Dennis Cheatham is a design researcher, designer and educator with over fourteen years of professional design experience as a graphic designer, interaction designer, copywriter and creative director. His work has earned regional and national awards, has been published nationally and he has presented his research internationally.
